I am a freelance musician based in the depths of the UK countryside, predominantly an oboist performing nationally and internationally.
MAKING REEDS
When I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, I left with a broad knowledge and interest to pursue making reeds for the Oboe and Cor Anglais. The Covid-19 Pandemic interrupted the end of my studies and gave me a huge opportunity while we were home bound to shovel time into making reeds.
WHY DOVECOTE REEDS?
At the end of my driveway is an old, quaint dovecote. Many years ago when we were brewing beer, it was jokingly nicknamed 'Dovecote Beer' from the 'Dovecote Brewery'. Since then it has sort of stuck that anything we do, personal or business, be named after the dovecote - Dovecote Recording Studio, Dovecote Music Lessons, Dovecote Woodworks .. so there was never a doubt that selling reeds, although business is conducted under my own name, be nicknamed Dovecote Reeds.
